Sessional Instructors, Spring & Summer 2019 Term(s), Department of Philosophy

Position Description

The Department of Philosophy, in the Faculty of Arts, invites applications for sessional instructors to teach the following courses in Spring (May - June) and Summer (July - August) 2019 term(s):

Spring 2019 Term:

PHIL 329 L01 - Business Ethics, Tuesday/Thursday 09:00 - 11:45 
PHIL 361 L01 - Evidence, Monday/Wednesday 09:00 - 11:45 

Summer 2019 Term:

PHIL 329 L01 - Business Ethics, Monday/Wednesday 18:00 - 20:45
PHIL 367 L01 - Science & Philosophy, Monday/Wednesday 13:00 - 15:45
WMST 201 L01 - Talking Gender & Sexuality, Monday/Wednesday 09:00 - 11:45

Application Details: Please submit your application directly to Tram Nguyen (, Manager of Administrative Services - Department of Philosophy.  In support of your application, please provide the following:

  • Cover letter
  • Current CV
  • Three academic reference letters (if not already on file)

Your letter should indicate specifically which course(s) you are applying for and in which term. You should also note the maximum number of courses you would be willing to teach in each term. If you are applying for more than one course in a term, indicate your first preference. 

**Doctoral students who have passed their candidacy exams 30 days before the course begins are eligible to apply.  Please indicate in your letter of application the anticipated dates for completion of the candidacy exams.

For salary information, please refer to TUCFA's Collective Agreement, Schedule B.  As per the Collective Agreement, the Department of Philosophy adheres to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.  

The application deadline is 4:00 pm Friday February 22, 2019.
